Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (KJV) states, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time to be born… This is why Cavite Adventist Mission (CDM) is born. It is purposed by heaven; no less than God Himself!

Mother Central Luzon Conference (CLC), after two years of “contractions”, gives birth to child CDM. Grandmother North Philippine Union Conference (NPUC) similarly shares its vicarious “contractions” as it coaches CDM to come out successfully, and finally, great grandmother Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) welcomes it to the world and blesses its birth.

Complementing mother CLC of its most awaited birth, child CDM inches its way out via its two-year completion of a satellite-hood onto its transformation to a full-fledged mission.

But the world should know that the missionhood saga actually begins in 1999 when members of Cavite province (then known as Area 6) introduce a study at their monthly Area Council meeting strongly proposing that Cavite province be a mission. Hardcore leaders and supporters of the ambitious move rationalize that Cavite’s spiritual and financial maturity serve as most important satisfying criteria. The dream Cavite Mission spawns from then on.

However, the dream Cavite Mission takes a long and winding road and encounters numerous stopovers. Finally, God realizes the deep-seated dream. In 2015, mother conference Central Luzon Conference (CLC) creates Cavite Satellite Field (CSF) at its 9th Constituency Meeting. Pastor June Canosa serves as field secretary. In January 2017, CSF formally takes-off by virtue of CLC Action # 2016-09-157. Pastor Ephraim Parulan holds the baton of leadership as vice president with the following people assisting him: Pastor June Canosa, associate executive secretary; Josue Fofue, Jr., associate treasurer; Pastor Adriel Gavenia, associate Ministerial secretary, Adventist Mission/ASI/ACS associate director; Pastor Ferdinand Barcoma, SS/PM/IELNDR/Publishing/SOP/Education associate director; Pastor Laudimer Gatus, AY/Family/Children/Communication associate director; and Pastor Jadaza  Hintay, Women’s Ministry/Shepherdess International/Music/Health associate director.

On May 24, 2018, North Philippine Union Conference (NPUC) Executive Committee votes on Action # 2018-80 recommending CSF mission status to the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) by virtue of CLC-voted Action # 2017-09-295. Finally, in September 2018, SSD approves Cavite Adventist Mission (CDM) with its spiritual, financial, leadership, and evangelism potentials as qualifying criteria. In December 2018, NPUC Executive Committee elects CDM officers – Pastor Israel Bacdayan, president; Pastor June Canosa, executive secretary, and Josue Fofue, Jr., treasurer.

The historic CDM First Constituency Meeting and Inauguration Ceremony that happens from January 10 to 12, 2019 at Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) officially declares its mission status to the entire church family of Cavite and the worldchurch. The Constituency Meeting also makes way for the election of department directors/associates that put people to capacities to help carry out the plans and programs of CDM leadership and membership. Those chosen to lead and supervise the departments of the Church consist of Pastor Adriel Gavenia, Ministerial secretary, and Sabbath School, Personal Ministries, Global Mission/IEL director; Pastor Laudimer Gatus, Youth Ministries, Health Ministries, and Communication director; Pastor Jade Hintay, Women Ministries, Family Ministries, Children’s Ministries, and Music Ministries director; Wilma Reyes, Education associate director; Jimmy Ramirez, Publishing Ministries/SOP associate director; Pastor Israel Bacdayan, Stewardship director; Pastor June Canosa, Human Resources, PARL, and Legal director; and Josue F. Fofue, Jr., ADRA director.

Meanwhile, elected members of the Executive Committee (EXCOM) compose the following: Dr. Francisco Gayoba, Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) president; Pastor Rodel Arandia, field pastors representative; Blessie Mangcoy, Area 1 lay representative; Norman Anacay, Area 2 lay representative; and Lolit Francisco, Area 3 lay representative.

The God-directed birth of Cavite Adventist Mission (CDM) continues to its growth as it takes the challenge of evangelizing and converting the province of Cavite with its conquering history, industry, economy, and people. With spiritual and human forces in place, front lined by 20,412 members in 18 districts and three single churches, 34 ministers in 76 churches, 24 companies, and 19 groups of believers; 24 teachers in 3 elementary schools, 161 literature evangelists, and five institutions namely SSD, AIIAS, AUP, 1000 Missionary Movement, ADRA, and soon PPH, CDM vision to prepare Cavite for eternity, with the leadership of Master Worker Jesus Christ, is now a reality.

Indeed, after 20 years in the making, God calls, “Baby, it’s time!” CDM comes out from the womb. CDM is born!
